Real Madrid announced that Thibaut Courtois had successful knee surgery.

Following what was described as “a tear of the internal meniscus of his right knee” that occurred during a training session with his Spanish club on Tuesday, Real Madrid has revealed that Thibaut Courtois has had successful knee surgery.

The Belgian player has not played for Los Blancos during the 2023–24 season since he sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury before the first game of the season, which was played against Athletic Bilbao.

Courtois, on the other hand, has been working his way back to health over the last several months, and he was expected to make his long-awaited comeback for Real Madrid following the international break in March.

On the other hand, the goalie suffered yet another tragic injury on Tuesday when he tore the internal meniscus in his right knee. This knee is the opposite knee that he injured back in August.

Today, our player, Thibaut Courtois, had successful surgery to repair a tear in the internal meniscus of his right knee. The procedure was carried out under the supervision of the Real Madrid Medical Services. Courtois will start the process of his recuperation in the following days, according to a statement that was released by the Spanish organization on Wednesday morning.

After Courtois had taken a scan, Real Madrid announced on Tuesday that the injury strike had been verified.

With the results of the examinations that were performed on our player Thibaut Courtois today, it has been determined that he has suffered a tear of the internal meniscus of his right knee. During the training session that took place today, the injury happened. According to a statement that was posted on the official website of Real Madrid, “Pending evolution,”

It is anticipated that the goalie will need two to three months to heal from his most recent injury. As a result, he will now be seeking to return to action during the next season or the following year.

Courtois has been a member of Real Madrid since the year 2018, during which time he has participated in 230 matches across all competitions for the club. Furthermore, he has made 49 appearances during the 2022–23 season.

While playing at Bernabeu, the 31-year-old player has been able to win a number of prestigious tournaments, including the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, the Club World Cup, the Copa del Rey, two Spanish Super Cups, and two La Liga crowns.

In December, David Alaba sustained an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), and he will also be out for the remainder of the season. On the other hand, Eder Militao, who suffered his ACL injury in August, is expected to return after the international break.

In preparation for Real Madrid’s match against Athletic the next weekend, Militao has been included in the roster. Real Madrid is expected to get a significant boost from the return of a vital player for the remaining parts of the season.

As a result of Courtois’s absence, Andriy Lunin is anticipated to continue maintaining his position as the number one goalkeeper for the duration of the season.

Earlier in the season, Lunin had been sharing the goalkeeping duties with Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was on loan to Chelsea. However, the Ukraine international has now established himself as the team’s first option between the sticks.

It is quite improbable that Kepa would make a permanent move to Real Madrid this summer. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the Spaniard will return to his original club after the conclusion of the current season.
