Arsenal will play Brentford to match a top tier scoring record.

Arsenal will strive to match a top-tier scoring record when they host Brentford on Saturday evening.

Arsenal may be partially preoccupied with their upcoming Champions League last-16 match against Porto on Tuesday. However, before they can fully concentrate on the second leg, they must first navigate a Premier League match against Brentford.

They are presently in third place, trailing leaders Liverpool by only two points, having won all seven of their matches in the Premier Division in 2024.

Arsenal achieved a resounding victory in their latest match, defeating the last-place team, Sheffield United, by a score of 6-0. The goals were scored by Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, Declan Rice, Ben White, and Jayden Bogle.

Due to their impressive streak of performances, the Gunners have achieved the distinction of being the first side to score 30 or more goals in their first seven top-flight games of the calendar year.

The North London team now has the chance to become only the second team to score a minimum of four goals in five consecutive top-tier matches.

Aston Villa is presently the sole club to have accomplished this remarkable achievement since they established the scoring record in 1931.

Mikel Arteta’s team is also aiming to achieve eight consecutive Premier League wins, a feat they have not accomplished since 2015.

Arsenal will be assured of their ability to secure a victory, given that they have already emerged victorious over Brentford twice this season.

Following Arsenal’s 1-0 victory in the Premier League match in November, Reiss Nelson scored the game-winning goal in the EFL Cup match in August.

Arsenal scored a goal in the 89th minute of the reverse league match to win the game, with Havertz being the one who scored the winning goal.

Arsenal will play against Brentford in a home game at the Gtech Community Stadium, marking their first encounter since a 1-1 draw in February 2023.

Despite only earning a draw in that particular match, the Gunners may take pride in the fact that they have not lost in any of their last six home encounters with the Bees since their 2-0 defeat in April 1938.

Arteta is optimistic that Bukayo Saka and Martinelli will be fit for Saturday’s match, despite the fact that they did not play the entire duration of Monday’s decisive victory against Sheffield United.
