Conor Gallagher has received advice from former Chelsea player Joe Cole to stay at Stamford Bridge during the current January transfer window.
Cole assured Gallagher that he would have a bright career with the club in west London.
Gallagher, a vital member of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad this year, has been linked to a departure from the Blues.
The England midfielder has started 24 of Chelsea’s 27 games this season and has participated in all but one of them.
“Conor Gallagher is the face of the club and a crucial player,” Cole said at the Wembley Stadium Green Football Weekend kickoff.
It would not be wise to remove him from the squad at this time since he is a captain in the leadership group. He has a bright future at Chelsea; I would tell him if I were giving him advice.
“I believe Jordan Henderson can be that for Chelsea, just as he was for Liverpool.”
