West Ham and Sheffield United are tied 2-2 after a late penalty.

In a match that saw one player sent off late in each team’s half, Sheffield United substitute Ollie McBurnie converted a penalty deep into stoppage time to give his team a well-earned 2-2 Premier League home draw with sixth-place West Ham United on Sunday.

The home side had a strong start, but in the 28th minute, Maxwel Cornet capitalised on a deflected Danny Ings shot to score the opening goal of the game, punishing their careless finishing.

Ben Brereton Diaz, an England-born Chilean international, hammered home a goal after West Ham custodian Alphonse Areola parried a header from William Osula to tie the score just before halftime in his first league match since joining on loan from Villareal on January 5.

In the 79th minute, West Ham’s James Ward-Prowse scored from the penalty spot after Gustavo Hamer had upended Ings. Both teams then had a player sent off, and in the 13th minute of stoppage time, McBurnie hammered the ball past replacement goalie Lukasz Fabianski to secure a draw.
